Three Days of the Condor

1975.  The year I graduated from high school.

Robert Redford
Faye Dunaway
Cliff Robertson
Max Von Sydow

Robert Redford plays Joe, a man who reads for the CIA.  The explanation is that the readers look for nefarious plans in the spy world.  Joe goes out from lunch and comes back to find all of his colleagues have been murdered.  After reporting it to his bosses, he quickly figures out he doesn’t know who he can trust & he’ll need to figure out what’s going on in his own way.

He basically kidnaps Kathy to give him some shelter and help.  Needless to say, she doesn’t stay hostage for long because it’s Robert Redford.  Duh.  Faye Dunaway is a beautiful actress and looks great in this movie.

Cliff Robertson is Joe’s section director and to the bitter end it’s hard to tell what side he’s on.  Not sure what the thing living on his head was. #ReallyBadHairDay & he probably thought his pornstache made him look younger.  It was the 70’s.

Max Von Sydow, an entirely fascinating actor, plays a hired assassin.  He has no skin in the game…he goes with the money.

There is nothing sexier than a smart man.  And if he looks like Robert Redford it’s even better.  I love how he figures out what’s going on.  One of the coolest things for me is that he was an old Bellhead (like me) and uses his knowledge of phone company to help his cause.  I remember that from the first time I saw the movie and look forward to it every time.  I love his time in the central office and talking to CNA (Customer Name & Address bureau) because I’ve been there.  It’s a little camaraderie..

Yep, I’m a nerd.

It’s dated, no doubt.  The cars, the suits, the hairdos.  But I love the story and I love the cast.  And I’m dated too.
